The Rutles' Third Album is the third Rutles Capital album released in the USA. 

Title and Cover

Both the title and cover originate from a canned Capital Records plan to release all US Rutle albums under one cover design with the only differences being the numbering in the title and cover and the two songs featured on the cover. The reason for the plan's demise being a test release of Meet The Rutles (or The Rutles Second Album) under the one cover design in Wyoming giving low sales (approximately zero), resulting in Capital attempting to burn all 2 test release copies. This nearly put Capital in bankruptcy, the only thing saving Capital being the Rutles explosion of popularity in 1964.
