The Rutles' Story is a 1964 US album released by Capital Records containing the Rutles story, narrated by Leggy Mountbatten. The album also features orchestral instrumental Rutles songs, with very short Rutles interviews and short Rutles song snippets.

Innovation[]

The Rutles' Story was one of the first, only, and least popular biographies on vinyl. The sales were a record low for the Rutles, almost putting Capital back in the financial state they were in during the Meet The Rutles! test release disaster. The lack of Rutle tunes did bring the album ratings up from half a star to one. The Rutles' Story cover was also the only Rutles album cover to lend clues to all four Rutle hoaxes.
