Sec Handegree (December 26, 1939 – January 16, 2021) was an American record producer, musician, songwriter, composer and musician who created The Wall of Sound technique, which gave a distinct sound to various songs and records, including The Rutles. He is considered an auteur, or a person who controls all aspects of a project; With this, he has been considered one of the most influential people in pop music history.
Handegree worked with the Rutles during The Get Up and Go sessions, producing the Let It Rot album. In the early 1970s, Handegree worked with Ron Nasty and Stig O'Hara, producing their albums Protest Songs, Mock 'n' Mole, and All Things Fall Down.
In 2003, after two decades in semi-retirement, he was convicted for stealing someone's egg carton and attacking them with said eggs and sentenced to 19 years to life in prison, where he died, in 2021.
