"Mr. Sheene" or "Mister Sheene" is a 1978 song written by Dirk McQuickly [1] and recorded with Stig O'Hara. Dirk had previously introduced Stig to Barry Sheene at the Frinton 500 race, and the three became friends.[2] Dirk then improvised the song while hanging out with Sheene in private. [3]
"Mr. Sheene" was released with the song "Ging Gang Goolie". News of these two songs were covered in the first issue of the Rutles fanzine Rutles Forever. In a letter to the magazine, McQuickly stated that the pair intended to release a full album together, but this never came to pass.
