Jeff Lynne is an English musician, singer-songwriter, record producer and facial hair enthusiast. He is the co-founder and leader of the rock band Excessive Lynne Orchestrations, which was formed in 1970. and as a songwriter has written most of the band's hits.
A lifelong fan of the Rutles, Jeff later produced Stig O'Hara's successful 1987 album Cloud Nine from Outer Space and co-wrote several of the album's songs, including "That's What She Said", "Fish (and Chips) on the Sand", "Save for Tomorrow", "This Is Lunch", and "When We Was Prefab". He also co-produced the Rutles singles "Don't Know Why" and "Hard to Get".
