Female is a 1965 song from the Rutle Sole album.

Background[]

At this time, the Rutles had become influenced by Les Garçons de la Plage and some of the lighthearted songs they were recording. The Rutles were trying to recapture that sound with this song.

Naughty Bits[]

The Rutles were always trying to sneak something into their songs that were a bit risqué, just to see what they could get away with. If you listen closely in the chorus of this song, instead of singing Dee-Dee-Dee-Dee, they sang Tea-Tea-Tea-Tea. This showed not only that they could get away with slipping in something risky, but that their addiction to tea was growing.
