“I liked the trousers right away. I’d been in the garment trade myself and knew a thing or two about inseams, and they were clearly winners. The Rutles themselves had many advantages: They were young, keen, and above all very cheap, so I signed them up for the rest of their natural lives. Lucky really.”
―Dick Jaws

Richard "Dick" Jaws is an English unemployed music publisher of no fixed ability. He had previously been in the garment trade and knew a thing or two about inseams.

He, along with Leggy Mountbatten, signed a song contract with The Rutles in 1962. Other groups he signed a song contract for included The McKismo Brothers (Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young Gifted and Black), Arthur Hodgson and the Kneecaps and Les Garçons de la Plage.

He was among those who knew the Rutles that were interviewed by Melvin Hall in the 1978 documentary All You Need Is Cash.
