Denny Lane was a member of the Mouldy Greens in the 1960s and then in Dirk McQuickly's Punk Floyd in the 1970s. In that group, whereas Martini did not sing at all, Denny usually sang one word, sometimes two.

In 1967, The Rutles admired his work in the Mouldy Greens so much, that they wrote a song dedicated to him which was changed later to Doubleback Alley.
