David Bowie, notably, was a fan of the record, calling it a "piece of marketing extravagance" in The Rutles 2: Can't Buy Me Lunch. In the extended interview, he mentioned that he planned to release his own version of the idea, titled 4.

In 2015, it was announced that the album would be re-released as -1 with a DVD/Blu-Ray containing music videos for all 27 songs, including 23 of the band member’s unused music videos.
